Seven Mistakes That Make an AI Video Look Like an AI Video

The engine is not the problem. The exact same tools produce both the videos that look fake and the ones you cannot spot. The difference is seven decisions, and all of them are yours.

Two people use the same engine on the same day. One gets something you cannot tell was not filmed, the other gets something anyone spots in a second. Same tool, same price. The difference is not the engine and not luck, it is a list of decisions. Here are the seven that recur most.

1. The prompt is too long

Past roughly eighty words the engine starts ignoring things, and it does not tell you which. A 200-word prompt does not give more control, it gives less, because you no longer know what it looked at. A focused description of one thing beats a shopping list.

2. "Cinematic" on its own

This is the most common word in prompts and it tells the engine nothing. Everyone writes it, so it pulls toward the average of everything. Say what you actually mean: low-key lighting, a long lens, a slow camera move, shallow depth of field. Four precise words are worth more than twenty generic ones.

3. Three actions in one shot

"She walks, turns, raises her hand and smiles" in five seconds. None of it will happen properly, and in most cases you get the classic warping, because the engine is trying to compress too much into too little time. One action per shot. If you need three, that is three shots.

4. No reference image

If there is a character in the video who is meant to recur, and no image locking them, they will change. That is not a bug, it is how a model works: words describe a range, and each run picks a different point in it. **Identity comes from a picture, not from text.**

5. Generating one version

AI is probabilistic. The exact same prompt returns a different result the second time, sometimes a much better one. Creators happy with their output almost always generate two or three versions and choose, taking the good parts of each in the edit.

6. Asking the engine for text

Video is drawn frame by frame, so letters dance and shift mid-shot. In Hebrew it is especially bad, because the model learned left-to-right writing direction. A caption added in the edit looks sharper, stays editable tomorrow, and costs no credits.

7. Generating straight at full quality

This is the mistake that costs the most. You search for the scene at full quality, throw away six results, and then the balance runs out. The right order is the reverse: low resolution and short length while searching, full quality only on the shot you have already decided to use. If the identity breaks at five seconds it will not hold at thirty.

Worth knowing: If you take only one thing from this list, take the seventh. It does not improve the result, it gives you several times more attempts on the same budget, and that is what actually improves the result.

Not one of these seven is a limitation of the tool. They are all decisions, and that is good news: a limitation you wait for someone else to fix, a decision you change on the next attempt.
