Midjourney 8.1: 2048px HD Images, Faster, and Without a Midjourney Subscription

Midjourney 8 brought 2048px HD images with no upscale step, generation about four to five times faster, and wide ratios up to 14:1. What is new in the version, how to write to it, and how to use it without a separate subscription.

Midjourney is still the first name that comes up when people talk about beautiful AI images, and its eighth version, released in April 2026, added what was missing: built-in HD quality, speed, and extra wide ratios. On Cadabra AI we run 8.1, the updated version, on the same balance as every other engine.

What Is New in Midjourney 8

  • 2048px HD images straight from generation, with no separate upscale step
  • Generation roughly four to five times faster than the previous version
  • Wide ratios up to 14:1, for banners and panoramic pictures
  • Four images per run, so you can pick the best one

Seven Modes, Not Only Generation

Beyond regular generation from text, the Midjourney studio on Cadabra AI has seven modes: generate, variation on a picture you liked, remix, retexture, background removal, canvas to extend the picture, and mask editing of a specific area. You can also attach one reference image to steer the style or the content.

How to Write to Midjourney

Midjourney likes a clear visual description: what is in the frame, in what light, in what style, and from which angle. The prompt is written in English, and if you wrote it in Hebrew it is translated to English before it reaches the engine. Here is an example:

A quiet bookshop at night in the rain, warm light spilling onto the wet street, a cat asleep in the window, cinematic, 35mm film look

Worth knowing: Midjourney does not draw Hebrew letters. Text inside the picture works only in Latin letters and inside quotation marks. For a Hebrew headline choose an engine that knows Hebrew, such as GPT Image 2.5, or add the text afterwards.

Ratios and Quality

In the studio you can choose nine ratios: 1:1, 16:9, 9:16, 4:3, 3:4, 21:9, 9:21, 3:2 and 2:3, and Standard or HD quality. 9:16 suits stories and reels, 16:9 a screen or a website hero, and 1:1 a post.

Questions and Answers

Do I need a Midjourney subscription? No. On Cadabra AI you pay only for what you make, from the same balance as every engine, with no monthly subscription.

Can I write in Hebrew? Yes. The prompt is translated to English before it reaches the engine.

Do the images belong to me? Yes. What is made in your account belongs to you, for personal, business or commercial use.

Midjourney on Cadabra AI

On Cadabra AI the Midjourney 8.1 tile sits in the Images tab, with the seven modes, the nine ratios and HD. It is on the same balance as the video, voice and music engines, so a Midjourney picture can become a video in the same place. The price is shown before every run, and a generation that fails is refunded automatically. And for anyone starting out: 10 free credits on sign-up, no credit card, at livinginmovie.com/en/start.
